In this role, you will take ownership of complex maintenance tasks, lead infrastructure projects, and support the team in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our critical facility systems. You will also act as a deputy to the Data Center Manager and play a key role in vendor coordination, incident response, and continuous improvement of operational procedures.ResponsibilitiesFacility & Infrastructure MaintenancePerform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on critical facility systemsLead and coordinate infrastructure operations and energy efficiency initiativesMonitor and respond to Building Monitoring System (BMS) alarms and recommend procedural improvementsInspect and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systemsDevelop project scopes for lifecycle maintenance and infrastructure upgradesVendor ManagementSelect and manage vendors for outsourced maintenance activitiesDirect vendors on complex tasks and ensure compliance with standardsCreate and submit maintenance scripts and manage work approval processesOversee updates to technical documentation in collaboration with vendorsSite Administration & Incident SupportComplete complex site logs and support permit issuance (e.g., MOPs)Identify and escalate process discrepancies and Single Points of Failure (SPOFs)Support the team during critical incidents and assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA)Maintain and update technical documentationWork Orders & ProjectsExecute complex work requests and circuit installationsTroubleshoot and maintain office and auxiliary equipmentLead infrastructure project activities and perform capacity management reviewsCollaboration & LeadershipAct as a support team lead and mentor for junior techniciansCollaborate across departments to resolve complex facility issuesPlan inventory needs and manage critical spare partsProvide guidance on repairs and preventative maintenance QualificationsCompleted vocational training as an Electrician, Electronics Technician, Energy Electronics Technician, or Network Technician (m/f/d), or equivalentFurther qualification as a Technician or Master Craftsman is a plusProven years of professional experience, ideally in a data center environmentStrong knowledge in building infrastructure maintenance and repairExperience in team leadership and workforce planningGood command of English; German is a plusHigh level of reliability, independence, and structured working styleStrong communication skills and a hands-on, service-oriented mindsetWhat We OfferPermanent employment contract30 vacation days per yearOvertime compensation or time off in lieuCompany pension scheme and capital-forming benefitsSubsidies for public transport and lunchJobRad (bike leasing program)Contribution to gym or sports club membershipEmployee stock purchase programCompany events and sports activitiesWorkwear providedA supportive team and a corporate culture that values initiative and collaborationEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.  If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.
