WHY BOX NEEDS YOU?
The Seat Growth & Retention team is a newly formed, high-impact group dedicated to increasing active users within existing customer accounts. We focus on building innovative tools and features that encourage customers to add more users and licenses. Additionally, we develop monitoring systems that use usage data to identify accounts at risk of churn. Our work directly supports driving user adoption and long-term customer success.
We are seeking a skilled Backend or Fullstack Software Engineer passionate about solving complex challenges in a fast-paced environment. You will design scalable backend systems to track key metrics like seat growth and churn rate, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help build features that drive business growth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact on company revenue while working alongside a small, talented, and collaborative team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO?
Attend and engage in weekly stand ups, team meetings, manager 1:1s
Work collaboratively with other engineers, team members and across teams (Poland & USA) on supporting, improving and adding new features to Activity Management
Partner with product to scope new features, provide project estimates and milestones to inform quarterly commitments
Plan and effectively execute on project and quarterly deliverables.
Provide input in implementing standards across all product teams at Box
Participate in production on-call rotation with your team members
Clearly communicate complex problems and technical concepts to both engineers and non-engineers and can break down complex requirements into step
Write/review quality, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code
Triage bugs and resolve issues that may arise during on call
Play a role in developing and fostering Box culture
Represent Box Poland internally and externally
Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.
WHO YOU ARE?
5+ years of professional software development experience
Strong proficiency in in Java and Spring Boot.
Experience in PHP
Experience with public cloud systems such as GCP, AWS or Azure
Experience with BigQuery and BigTable
Strong proficiency in designing and developing APIs and micro-services
You are oriented for solving problems regardless of technology - small modifications of PHP will happen time to time.
Assess, communicate and complete project milestones with manager and team members in a time sensitive manner
Adapt to the technical and stylistic needs of integrations and projects as they occur; including technical tools, programming languages, technical limitations, and product requirements
Review and assess the technical feasibility of project requirements and propose innovative solutions
Be the technical expert and provide guidance to junior engineers on best practices, coding standards, and complex technical issues
Must speak English proficiently
Additional skills:
Some experience with Javascript or Typescript development frameworks such as React.js and Angular.
Experience contributing to open source project
