Job SummaryThe Account Manager (German-speaking) Retention is responsible for managing and expanding existing mid-market accounts for Equinix solutions, with a strong focus on customer retention, contract renewals, and revenue protection. The majority of customer interactions are conducted via phone and email, with occasional visits to local clients.ResponsibilitiesBuilding & Maintaining Customer RelationshipsDevelops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders in assigned German-speaking accountsActs as the primary point of contact for customer issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutionConducts regular Business Reviews and occasional Executive Briefings in GermanLeveraging Internal Teams & Channel PartnersCoordinates with internal teams (Sales Engineers, Solutions Architects, Customer Care, Sales Operations, etc.) and external partners (resellers, strategic alliances) to deliver comprehensive solutionsUtilizes partner networks to identify and develop cross- and upsell opportunities within existing accountsAccount & Contract ManagementAnalyzes and documents the customer landscape, with special attention to contract terms, renewal dates, and notice periodsDevelops account plans focused on retention and expansion of existing businessProactively manages contract renewals, identifying at-risk customers and leading renewal negotiations to protect revenueSolution SellingIdentifies customer needs, challenges, and technical requirements, recommending appropriate Equinix solutionsPresents and adapts the full suite of Equinix offerings to meet specific customer requirementsLeverages external partners to develop new solutions and explore additional business opportunitiesNegotiation & Offer ManagementLeads commercial and contract negotiations, using internal resources as needed to secure optimal termsUnderstands commercial levers and develops initial recommendations for deal structuresPipeline & Forecast ManagementMaintains and monitors the opportunity pipeline in Salesforce (SFDC), ensuring accurate forecasting and identifying churn risksPrioritizes accounts to achieve sales objectives and maintain a healthy pipelineQualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experienceProven years’ relevant experience in account management, ideally within IT/technologyNative in German and Fluent in English (written and spoken)Experience with complex contract structures, renewals, and churn managementStrong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skillsKnowledge of technology sales, particularly in colocation and digital infrastructure, is a plusExperience managing contract renewals, notice periods, and commercial negotiations is essentialAbility to work cross-functionally and leverage internal and external resources to maximize customer valueEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
