Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to develop and maintain robust data pipelines for our flight testing, powertrain testing, and component testing operations. This role will be critical in ensuring efficient data flow from our aircraft systems to our engineering teams, enabling rapid iteration and validation of our eVTOL technologies. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines to ingest, process, and store telemetry data from flight tests, powertrain tests, and component tests Develop automated systems to validate data quality, flag anomalies, and ensure data integrity across testing platforms Create and maintain scalable data processing architecture that can handle high-frequency sensor data from multiple aircraft systems Work closely with flight test engineers to understand data requirements and develop tools for efficient analysis of flight performance metrics Build real-time and batch processing solutions for powertrain performance monitoring, including electric motor efficiency, battery performance, and thermal management systems Implement data visualization solutions that allow engineers to quickly identify trends and anomalies in test data Collaborate with aerospace engineers to develop specialized analytics for aerodynamic performance, structural loads, and flight controls Establish data governance practices for test data, ensuring proper versioning, security, and accessibility Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles, preferably with exposure to aerospace, automotive, or other hardware testing environments Strong programming skills in Python (object-oriented design patterns, multiprocessing), SQL (query optimization, indexing strategies), and MATLAB (signal processing, numerical algorithms) with expertise in developing efficient data transformation pipelines Knowledge of data infrastructure and DevOps. with experience in transformation workflows, Terraform for infrastructure-as-code, Docker/Kubernetes for containerized deployments Experience with time-series data analysis in time and frequency domain for handling high-frequency sensor data Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for server-based and serverless data processing Familiarity with modern data visualization tools including interactive dashboarding frameworks (Prometheus), and open-source visualization libraries Understanding of CI/CD practices for automated testing and delivery of data systems Preferred Qualifications Experience with aerospace testing protocols and data standards Background in electric vehicle or powertrain testing Knowledge of battery performance analysis Exposure to control systems data analysis Experience with MATLAB or similar engineering analysis tools Understanding of aerospace certification processes and data requirements Experience leveraging GPU acceleration for large-scale data transformation and machine learning workflows. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
