Leads large scale projects using internal and external resources. Leads development and implementation of policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with other internal and external teams, including the design engineering, site engineering, regional operations teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, policies and procedures to resolve unique controls engineering matters. Mentors engineers within the Engineering and Site Operations job family groups (e.g. IBX Engineering).ResponsibilitiesSystem Operation and Work PracticesExpert operating knowledge of control systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairsAbility to apply knowledge of Equinix process and procedure and industry standards to resolve non-routine issuesWorks with vendors to identify and resolve hardware and software issues with vendors’ products which affect Equinix operationUtilizes safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tagout, can explain MSDS, etc.)Evaluates and assures the safe working practices of othersReviews and recommends work practice guidelines and policyInteracts with other engineering disciplinesProblem SolvingConsistently solves complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolveMakes recommendations for system level enhancements to eliminate potential problemsTests suitability of components for deploymentsTechnical ExpertiseHas expert controls system knowledgeIs a subject matter expert to others in and outside of the groupExtensive knowledge of multiple facets of controls engineeringDevelops and executes projectsReviews budget and scope, calculates savings pertaining to control system replacement projectsAssess Adherence to PolicyAssures adherence to approved standards and policy through review of documentation, support in commissioning activities and IBX physicals with respect to adherence to standardsDevelops high level reporting / summaries of policy compliance informationQualifications10+ years in control system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with emphasis & special focus on controlsBachelor DegreeFluent Spanish and English essentialAttended meetings:Weekly internal DCOS-ITR project meetingProject OAC calls as neededIntegrator meeting as needed as requested by project Design ManagerDesign consultant meetings as requested by project Design ManagerPage turns (Schematic Design and Detailed Design)Phase 2: Schematic DesignReview and comment on Schematic Design submittals (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Telecom)Identify all assets, devices, and equipment that require integration and submittal review.Phase 4: Detailed DesignReview and comment on Detail Design submittals (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Telecom, Controls)Panel LocationsInstrument LocationsNetwork switch locations, port count, and VLAN port configurationPanel instrument I/O layoutNetwork diagrams (Primary, Secondary, and Device Layer)Data Hall instrument location drawingsMechanical P&IDsEquipment points listsPhase 6: ConstructionReview and comment on RFIsReview and comment on submittals OFCI and CFCIAttend SFAT as neededReview and comment on SOOReview and comment on test scriptsMiscellaneous:Review of DCOS DCFsSupport monthly DCOS GDS management & Improvement supportDCOS Information awareness training as requiredGlobal Legislation Compliancy supportEngage and deliver with our Enterprise and Functional Goals to achieve our Organization PrioritiesThe United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $157,000 to $235,000 per year• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $150,000 to $224,000 per year• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $136,000 to $204,000 per yearOur pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
