Test & Verification EngineerStatus: Exempt (Salaried)Department: CTO – Advanced System TechnologiesLocation: MontrealPosition SummaryThe Test & Verification Engineer is an important member of the CTO’s Advanced System Technologies Organization and will be a professional representative of Plug Power, a key interface for system and component designers, and a test program leader responsible for developing and executing characterization & verification test plans.This role is critical to the functionality of the engineering team and will assist in furthering Plug Power’s products to exceed customer’s expectations.  The ideal engineering candidate should be highly motivated to contribute to a rapidly growing company and passionate about lending their technical expertise within a dynamic and collaborative work environment.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesTest planning, test and equipment requirements, test execution and reporting, with focus on design verification (DV) and validation of productsConduct and monitor tests on a variety of components, subsystems, systems, and fixtures, as per design verification plansAnalyze and interpret data collected providing feedback to design teams and making appropriate design recommendationsDevelop standard operating procedures (SOPs), test plans, reports, and other test related documentation with continual improvement in mindReview existing testing protocols and implement improvements to previous testing programs, as neededDevelopment and use of advanced diagnostic techniques for evaluation of fuel cell stack, balance-of-plant (BOP) & system performance and durabilityDevelop testing protocols, troubleshooting, and solving complex technical problemsEnsure testing procedures and equipment comply with required industry standardsCoordinate with New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering teams to improve system tests and throughputSupport multiple testing programs with management of testing resource capability and capacityAssist with new test equipment specification, sourcing, installation and/or operation, commissioning, and troubleshootingExecute or provide training to support functional characterization, accelerated stress, durability, ambient and cold-startup evaluationsWork to develop a fundamental understanding of failure modes, including identification and investigationMay execute or coordinate support for NVH and other environmental testing to meet customer or program requirementsTravel to various supplier and customer locations as requiredMay contribute to budgetary forecast and planningMay perform other duties, as assignedRequired Education and ExperienceSome experience in testing hydrogen fuel cell or battery related technologies highly preferredBachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, engineering physics, or a related field3+ years of experience in a fast-paced product development environmentStrong knowledge of National Instruments based data acquisition systems, including LabVIEW programmingGood knowledge of structural design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow design and selection of mechanical componentsPractical experience with mechanical and electrical systems, with troubleshooting ability, is highly preferableStrong attention to detail with excellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated analytical abilitiesStrong teamwork and interpersonal skillsExperience creating and implement test plans for verifying designsComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookDemonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyDemonstrate high standards of professionalismDemonstrated excellence in follow-through on projectsMust be driven and self-motivatedExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week. Plug Power, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
