About the Role: We’re seeking a Software Engineer II to contribute to the development of our marketing platform. This platform supports thousands of users across hundreds of tenants, and we need a strong engineer to ensure it remains performant, scalable, and innovative while driving the delivery of new features at a rapid pace. As a key player on our DB1M team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and design, to align on goals, understand requirements, and deliver impactful solutions. You’ll lead by example, contributing to hands-on coding, code reviews, and system design while mentoring a small team of engineers. This role also involves proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and driving initiatives that align with organizational objectives. The base compensation range for this position for candidates in the SF Bay Area is: $151,000 - $227,000. For all other locations, the base compensation range is based on the primary work location of the candidate as our ranges are location specific. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skillset, years of experience, and depth of experience. What you’ll be doing: Technical Ownership & Growth: Take ownership of features or components within the platform, driving them from concept through delivery with guidance from senior engineers. Collaborate with product and design teams to understand requirements and translate them into well-scoped, actionable engineering tasks. Participate in architectural discussions and contribute ideas to help shape scalable, maintainable solutions. Engage in regular code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback to maintain high code quality and support team learning. Demonstrate a growth mindset and actively seek opportunities to expand technical skills and domain knowledge. Hands-On Development: Design, build, deploy, and monitor microservices using Java/Python for the backend and React/Redux for the frontend. Write efficient and complex SQL queries and optimize database interactions. Continuously evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance the platform. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams to understand their needs and drive collaborative solutions. Act as a technical liaison to bridge gaps between engineering and other departments. Proactive Innovation: Identify and execute on opportunities to improve existing systems and processes. Stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure the platform remains cutting-edge. What We’re Looking For: 5+ years of experience in object-oriented programming (Java preferred). 2+ years of experience building scalable, robust services and deploying microservices from scratch. Strong understanding of backend server components, performance optimization, and system scaling. Expertise in SQL and database query optimization. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Even Better If You Have: Experience in Data Science and/or Data Engineering Experience in AWS and CI/CD deployments Proficiency in web development technologies, including React, Redux, HTML, and CSS. Knowledge of Python web frameworks like Flask or Django and ORMs like SQLAlchemy. Familiarity with emerging technologies and their practical application in solving business challenges.
