Back to jobs Senior Privacy Counsel New York, NY or US - Remote Apply Vimeo is seeking a Senior Privacy Counsel to lead our global privacy function, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations while supporting business growth. This is a high-impact role for a privacy law expert with a passion for protecting user data. In this role, you will serve as the company’s primary expert on global privacy laws and regulations, responsible for developing and executing strategies that balance compliance with business objectives. You will be a key member of the legal team and work closely with security, engineering, product, and compliance teams to embed privacy-by-design principles across Vimeo’s operations. You will report to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel - Product, Privacy, & IP and also manage a Privacy Program Manager to support and execute Vimeo’s privacy initiatives.  What you’ll do: Develop, implement, and oversee Vimeo’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with global data protection laws including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.  Provide expert legal guidance on privacy and data protection matters related to product development, marketing, and third-party partnerships. Draft, update, and enforce internal and external privacy policies, data protection agreements, and other legal documentation to reflect evolving legal requirements and industry best practices. Collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to ensure privacy-by-design principles are embedded into product development and business operations.Develop and lead privacy training programs to promote a strong culture of data protection. Partner with security and compliance teams to manage data breaches and security incidents, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. Stay up-to-date with global privacy laws and regulations and offer proactive guidance to internal stakeholders on potential implications.Engage with regulators when necessary and advocate for Vimeo’s interests in privacy matters. Supervise and provide guidance to the Privacy Program Manager, ensuring successful execution of privacy initiatives. Skills and knowledge you should possess: JD or equivalent legal degree with strong academic credentials and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar. 8+ years of legal experience with a focus on privacy, data protection, and technology law.  In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant frameworks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal business stakeholders.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Proven ability to lead initiatives, manage cross-functional projects, and influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or similar certification preferred.  Prior management experience preferred. Base Salary Range: NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles: $184,000 - $251,500  All other US cities outside above metro areas: $165,600 - $226,350 At Vimeo, we strive to hire and nurture amazing talent across the globe.
