Job Requisition ID #25WD88654Position OverviewWe are seeking a Vice President of Engineering, Commerce and Business Platforms to lead our technology strategy and execution across .com, eCommerce, and business platforms of MarTech, SalesTech, and FinanceTech. Reporting to our Chief Technologist, this role is critical in driving innovation, scalability, and efficiency across our platforms, ensuring a seamless customer experience and empowering revenue growth.As VP of Engineering, Commerce and Business Platforms, you will oversee the technical strategy and execution of the development and operations of our go-to-market technology stack. You will collaborate closely with Architecture, Product Management, UX, Data Science, and cross-functional teams including Platform engineering teams.You’ll work with teammates across the globe and will travel up to 15% of the time for face-to-face meetings like conferences, team offsites, and team visits. This role will be hybrid to our San Francisco office.Responsibilities1. Vision and LeadershipDefine and execute the engineering strategy for all digital and business platforms supporting global go-to-market operationsBuild and scale high-performing, globally distributed engineering teams while fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and innovationPartner closely with Architecture, Product, UX, and Data Science teams to deliver cohesive, AI-enhanced experiences for customers and internal usersAct as a thought leader and executive partner by aligning technical strategy with business priorities to unlock revenue and operational efficiencyStay ahead of emerging technologies (AI, personalization, automation) and infuse them into platform strategies2. Technical Execution and Platform ExcellenceLead the design, development, and optimization of high-traffic global web and commerce platformsDrive modernization across MarTech, SalesTech, and FinanceTech platforms, enabling end-to-end automation, attribution modeling, and revenue insightsChampion modern engineering practices: real-time data infrastructure, microservices, DevOps, open-source tools, CI/CD, and test automationEnsure platform performance, availability, scalability, and security especially as we scale into new regions and marketsManage technical debt while maintaining velocity and quality in agile product development3. Collaboration and Cross-Functional ImpactWork closely with Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to modernize order processing, cash management, and business processesCollaborate with Platform Engineering and Security & Compliance teams to meet data privacy (GDPR, CCPA) and compliance standardsInfluence executive stakeholders and advocate for engineering investments that drive business impactPromote a culture of data-driven decision-making across the engineering org and the broader companyMinimum Qualifications15+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles5+ years of experience in managing and leading large high performing global teams and have experience leading a 350+ person teamBachelors, Masters, or PhD in software engineering or computer scienceStrong technical acumen balanced with a strategic mindset to drive business impactProven track record leading large-scale web technologies, relational, and noSQL databasesExperience with Data Lake/warehouse, real-time data infrastructure, search engines, community platforms, and platforms in internal users in areas of marketing, sales and financeProven ability to drive data-driven decision-making and A/B testing methodologiesDeep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), microservices, APIs, and integration of web technologies with SaaS servicesStrong understanding of MarTech, personalization, Customer Data Platform, and AI/ML for digital experiencesExperience in high-traffic, multi-region web platforms with a focus on performance, reliability, and securityEnable Mar Tech innovations, including automation, attribution modeling, and campaign performance analyticsBuild and enhance SalesTech and FinanceTech platforms, improving pipeline management, revenue operations and financial reporting partnered with compliance functionsLearn MoreAbout AutodeskWelcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $292,200 and $401,830. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
