In this role, you’ll lead Workiva’s Sustainability engineers to engineer and deliver features into the Carbon accounting platform and deliver a customer experience that integrates with other Workiva products and services. You will work closely with Product, Designers, Sustainability experts to lead engineers to build a SaaS product that amazes our customers, as well as being responsible for the operational excellence of a cloud-native architecture. Success in this role depends on strong Product-Engineering background, result-orientated, and close collaboration with UX and key stakeholders. As part of the Sustainability Platform, this team plays a key role in driving Workiva’s strategic growth. Pay attention to support burdens, architectural direction, and technical debtDelivery Schedule: Contribute to and hold accountability for the product delivery scheduleRepresentation: Represent Workiva Engineering at internal and external events and actively engage in recruiting via meet-ups, conferences, and eventsBest Practices: Communicate, reinforce, and ensure that your squads develop software within the principles, standards, and best practices for Workiva Product Development, including Engineering, Architecture, and ProductTeam Performance Development:Performance Assessment: Assess and document individual employee performanceCoaching: Meet with direct reports to discuss and coach in various areas, addressing issues and obstacles that they faceConflict Management: Manage team health, including employee engagement and conflict resolutionCareer Growth: Prioritize and invest time into career growth for direct reports, providing opportunities related to their goalsRecruitment: Participate in the recruiting and selection process and manage new team member onboardingWhat You'll Need:Minimum QualificationsExperienced manager with advanced knowledge in a specialized field and broad understanding of related areasBachelor’s degree with 7+ years related experience, or Master’s degree with minimum of 6 years related experience, or PhD with 4 years related experiencePreferred Qualifications 7+ years of direct people management experience preferred, including supervisory experience of entry-level managers and/or experienced individual contributorsDeep understanding and practical experience with our core technology stack: TypeScript, Kubernetes, Node.js, React, and GraphQL.Experience working with and deploying applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS).Familiarity with API design principles and integration strategies.Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment.Previous experience within the accounting, financial technology (FinTech), or sustainability/carbon accounting domains.Strong understanding of software development best practices, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks.Demonstrated ability to drive technical initiatives and contribute to the overall technical vision of a product.Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
