We are looking for a Discovery and Translational Science Consultant to join a dynamic team of more than 25 bioinformatics and data scientists consultants in Barcelona, Spain within Clarivate Life Science Consulting Services reporting to Discovery and Translational Science Consulting Manager. This is a unique opportunity to support innovation in biomedical research by providing bioinformatics and data science services to clients ranging from major pharmaceutical companies to biotech start-ups. We have a great skill set in applying a wide range of computational and systems biology tools to understanding of human disease and the development of novel therapies.We would love to speak with you if you have experience in doing the same!About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments At least 5 years of experience in a professional settingProven experience in Bioinformatics, Computational or Systems Biology or a related fieldBachelor’s Degree required in Life Sciences with a strong computational component (Bioinformatics, Computational Biology) or in Computer/Data Science with a strong Life Sciences component         Advanced user of R, and Linux/Unix command line with a strong understanding of statistics and data analysisIt would be great if you also: Applied your computational biology skills in the context of human disease and drug discovery researchHave experience applying machine learning to biomedical problemsWorked in industry or provided bioinformatics as a serviceHave experience of defining bioinformatics projects and independently carrying them outMaster's or advanced degreeWhat will you be doing in this role?Delivery. You will apply state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools as well as our advanced proprietary Systems Biology Platform to generate hypotheses on disease mechanisms, drug response biomarkers, and drug targets.Project management. You will work independently and as part of the team to carry out a variety of bioinformatics analyses ensuring adherence to the agreed project scope, timeline and budget.Client Service. You will scope bioinformatics projects by understanding client needs and developing analytical strategy to meet them.Portfolio development. You will contribute to improvement of existing and development of new offerings within Bioinformatics Consulting.About the Team We are a growing team of more than 25 bioinformatics consultants mostly based in Barcelona, Spain with some team members based throughout the rest of Spain and US.We provide a wide range of bioinformatics services supporting clients from big pharma to small biotech start-ups, often leveraging Clarivate’s unique content in drug discovery and translation.Our work is mostly focused on understanding of disease mechanisms, identification of novel targets and translational medicine support through discovery of biomarkers and patient stratification.We also run two consortia with major industry partners around implementation and benchmarking of bioinformatics and Systems Biology algorithms.The team culture is dynamic with focus on collaboration and mutual supportHours of WorkThis is a 12 months fixed term contract, full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August).The working schedule is flexible, mostly centered on CET time zone with occasional need to accommodate late or early meetings with US or East Asia time zones.
