To support this ambitious growth trajectory, it is crucial to onboard a transformational leader for the Kuala Lumpur (KL) operations team. This role will not only oversee the current KL1 Critical Facilities Engineer Team but will also be pivotal in ensuring that new expansions are delivered on time and meet the high standards expected of Equinix.As the Assistant Manager, Critical Facilities, you will lead a team of critical facilities engineers, guiding them towards achieving operational excellence. A key aspect of this role is striving towards an ideal state of operating data centers with zero downtime, which is essential for maintaining Equinix's reputation for reliability and performance. You will be responsible for managing workforce dynamics to ensure optimal performance and alignment with Equinix's growth objectives.Responsibilities:Team ManagementManages a team of critical facilities engineers such as chargeman, electrical, and mechanical engineersLeads teams to work safely, effectively and with a strong emphasis on avoiding human errorOversee personnel management functions, including performance evaluations, role positioning, employee reviews, mentoring, and professional developmentSite ManagementSupervise regular preventative maintenance activitiesDevelop and manage routine operational plans, ensuring targets are met in alignment with monthly objectivesImplement innovative strategies to proactively address and prevent potential issues.Incident ManagementStrive for zero downtime in the mission-critical facility environmentsCommunicate and coordinate activities with on-site staff during incidentsSupervise root cause analysis and help resolve incidents effectivelyImplement emergency and disaster mitigation strategiesProject ManagementManage complex projects to include project budget and scope and designate work to teamWork with global and regional team to support various initiatives and projectsVendor ManagementOversees contractor work and operations to ensure completion to Equinix's required standards, (KPI's) Key Performance Indicators and (SLA's) Service Level AgreementsEnsures compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies throughout vendor management process, conducting regular audits and assessments to maintain standardsTestingEnsures correct processes are followed and all documentation is completeTakeover of new builds and building infrastructureRequirements:Typically, over 7 years of relevant experience in Data Center or Mission Critical Facilities industries.Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferredDemonstrated ability to manage and develop a diverse team, leveraging proven managerial experience to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environmentStrong analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and provide effective solutions to incidentsProven experience in vendor management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policiesEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.  If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.
