Job SummaryThis position reports to Director Energy Operations and CleanTech – APAC and is responsible for supporting delivery of Equinix Global Energy and Sustainability strategy in Japan and other APAC Markets. The role will be part of the team leading the Equinix Energy Procurement and Sustainability Program and will with globally with other project teams and stakeholders to provide strategic support and leadership to deliver the Equinix Energy Program.ResponsibilitiesResponsible day-to-day management of Energy and Utility contracts across Tokyo, Osaka and other markets in APACManage the energy sourcing and purchasing process in Japan and other markets across APAC including development of qualified bidders’ lists; receipt and evaluation of proposals; financial modeling/analysis; contract negotiation, award and administration of purchase orders, and preparation and distribution of records and reportsLead investigations and preliminary research to assess energy options and availability for data center site development, ensuring thorough documentation and analysisEngage with energy consultant to monitor market trends and to understand technical details around available electricity productsEstablish and manage relationships with internal stakeholders including supporting the Utilities & Energy team, Global Operations, Accounting, Sales & customers, Investor & Analyst Relations and MarketingParticipate in development, management, and evolving renewable energy procurement strategy to support overall long-term corporate sustainability objectivesRegularly present to country MD’s and other internal/external groups as necessaryAbility to travel frequently travel internationally and domesticallyQualifications5+ years’ experience working power utilities procurement, and/or sustainabilityBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferredExperience with complex contract negotiations and supplier management specific to utilities procurementSupplier / Utility / Energy Consultancy experienceBroad understanding of Power Purchasing Agreements (PPA’s) in APAC and experience with financial modeling and analysis of PPA’s including understanding the risks of renewable energy/cleantech projects and options to mitigate riskPossess excellent negotiation skills, evidenced by significant deliverables (e.g., cost savings, risk mitigation) resulting from completed negotiationsCommunicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, successfully interfacing with all internal and external stakeholdersProvide excellent analytical skills identifying all options available and defining best possible solutionsWritten and spoken language skills in English and Japanese is a mustEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
