Senior Machine Learning Engineer

The Senior Machine Learning Engineer is responsible for delivering innovative machine learning (ML) solutions across Workiva using MLOps and software engineering best practices. The Senior ML Engineer will own and deliver projects to develop ML features that require creative problem-solving such as integrating Gen AI into Workiva’s platform. The role also develops tools, systems, infrastructure, and automation to help develop, monitor, and manage Workiva’s machine learning solutions. The Senior ML Engineer analyzes issues that prevent availability or scaling and derives solutions that provide long-term stability. They will apply domain expertise and ownership in the Machine Learning space while providing guidance to team members.What You'll Do Design systems to enable rapid ML development, high availability, and clear observabilityDevelop APIs with product teams to access Workiva’s ML solutionsDeliver, update, maintain machine learning infrastructureBe a technical leader on the ML team, mentoring less experienced ML engineers and scientists along with defining team best practices and processesWrite automated tests (unit, integration, functional, etc) with ML solutions in mindDebug and troubleshoot components across multiple service and application contextsEngage with support teams in triaging and resolving production issuesParticipate in on-call rotations which include 24x7 support of all of Workiva’s SaaS hosted environmentsPerform Code Reviews within your team’s  products, components, and solutions; involve external stakeholders (Ex. Security, Architecture) where appropriateCollaborate with software, data architects and product managers to deliver complete software products that can be leveraged to meet a broad range of customer needs and requirementsWhat You'll NeedMinimum requirements 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experiencePreferred Qualifications4+ years of ML engineering or related experienceProficiency in the ML development cycle, toolsets, and applying ML solutions to problemsExperience with model deployment, data pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructureFamiliarity with Generative AI and related development patternsProficient in Python, GO, Java, or similar languages, with source control systems (e.g., GitHub)Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (preferred), and cloud services (AWS or equivalent)Strong programming foundation, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systemsExperience in Agile/Sprint environments and debugging complex systems or applicationsKnowledge of HTTP/web protocols, databases, performance tuning, and production-level testingExcellent communication and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and deliverablesTravel Requirements and Working ConditionsWillingness to travel up to 15% for team and corporate meetings, fostering relationships and representing company interests Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, as we embrace flexible work arrangementsHow You’ll Be Rewarded✅ Salary range in the US: $102,000.00 - $173,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits packageThe salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
