Our role is to provide technical support to the design, release, stabilization, and eventual site transfer of new products and process technologies. This person will contribute to the development and release of next generation Flow Cell MFG technology by supporting highly automated and innovative laser-based processes, in addition to manufacturing sustaining efforts on optical, mechanical, and electrical systems in a high volume, consumables manufacturing environment. The role will contribute to highly impactful cost savings and product transfer initiatives and will be a leader with the Flow Cell technical operations team in identifying and driving continuous improvement projects within our fleet of laser systemsResponsibilities: Represent Operations needs on product development teams for genomic applicationsLead optical process development, definition and improvement, and other activities in the making of consumable productsTroubleshoot high-volume production line issues related to yield, quality, and throughput.Lead and work on teams to develop and transfer robust new processes/products to productionConstruct and execute controlled experiments (including DOE's) to optimize processes, address yield and quality issues and drive implementation of solutions into a production environment to meet project goalsAnalyze process test results, issue reports and make technical recommendations for laser-based systemsWork cross functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality to develop processes and lead design transfer to manufacturing for new products and sustaining on-market products.Define technical requirements and write procedures for Production to process productDetermine strategy and work with external collaborators and suppliersWork with Development and vendors to design and install new equipment and technology for manufacturing.Apply mechanical, optical, and electrical knowledge to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment issues, as they arise; in addition to understand and improve manufacturing processes.Work with lasers and laser alignment.Ensure adherence to and continuous improvement of laser safety procedures as a Laser Safety OfficerRequirements:Experience with laser systems is required.Work experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical or semiconductor industries is desirableGood interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skills are requiredDemonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is requiredHigh level problem solving and reasoning skills requiredHigh level computer skills are requiredExperience with product development processes, design transfer experience, and project management is a plusExperience with biochemical processes preferredExperience with statistics, Statistical Process Control, DOE techniques, and critical parameter management is a plusExperience with high volume production in a high tech, high volume consumables industry is a plusIntermediate level programming knowledge is a plusExperience supporting Semi-conductor or Microfluidic device processes/products is a plus.Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position.  Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.The estimated base salary range for the Sr. Process Engineer - Laser Systems role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
