Reporting to the Senior Director, IT Network Operations, the Director, IT Network Operations will be responsible for overseeing the Calix Global enterprise network operations team, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of IT networks, developing and implementing network strategies in alignment with the company’s goalsThis is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.Responsibilities and Duties:Develop and execute network strategies to support organizational objectives, including scalability, security, and innovation.Lead and oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of complex network infrastructure across multiple sites and regionsManage a team of network engineers and administrators, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluationEnsure network reliability, security, and compliance with industry standards and best practicesCollaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, vendors, and customers, to align network strategy with business objectives and customer needsMonitor and troubleshoot network performance and availability issues, using tools such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba Networks, and other network management systemsManage vendor relationships and contracts for ISP’s, as well as network hardware and software vendors.Security, stability and supportability of all network hardware and software Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s) for the enterprise network service, track and contribute to Monthly Operations Reports (MOR).Manage operating budget for Calix enterprise networks, maintain forecast accuracy, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.Contribute to Enterprise IT Strategy & Planning, develop and maintain network roadmap and investment plan. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation.Key elements of the role:Design, implement, and maintain the network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and cloud connectivity.Ensure the network performance, security, and reliability, and monitor the network health and performance indicators. Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.Document complex network issues and provide root cause analysis and resolution.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the network engineers and other teams.Develop and enforce network policies and standards, and ensure compliance with best practices and regulations.Research and evaluate new network technologies and solutions, and recommend improvements and upgrades.Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with Tier 1 carriers, network service and equipment providers ensuring optimal service level agreements and cost efficiency.Stay updated on emerging network technologies and trends, and evaluate their applicability and feasibility for the organizationDevelop and implement network policies, procedures, and documentation, and ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirementsPartner with Product and Platform owners, Project/ program delivery leads, and functions and businesses to analyze, understand and track how technology programs are enabling the respective business strategies Ensure the principles of Continuous Improvement are integrated into the overall Governance process by rolling out the designed measures and targets across all technology teams in order to improve performance and value captureDevelop strong working relationships with key stakeholders within and outside of IT, and work with them to drive Change across the Enterprise by designating Change Champions and change support functionsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience10+ years of experience in managing complex network environments, including LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, and cloud networksExpert knowledge of network protocols, standards, and architectures, such as TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, etc.Proficient in network hardware and software, such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Aruba Networks, and other network devices and systemsStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and projectsExcellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and provide effective solutionsCertifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, ZCCA or equivalent are preferredData gathering, data analysis, problem solving and decision-making skillsNegotiations skills and conflict managementLogical, attentive to detail and good work ethicCompensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States.
