The Equipment Engineer will work in a dynamic team-oriented environment that supports multiple operations and technologies helping Illumina deliver its highly complex product pipeline in a reliable and sustainable manner.The Equipment Engineer will support the day to day manufacturing equipment maintenance operations by owning components of systems to large systems, with different engagements of oversight to no oversight depending on proficiency and experience.Responsibilities: Represent disciplineCoordinate to manage vendors and engineering contractorsGenerate standard operating procedures/Work instructionsMake suggestions for continuous improvement and cost savingsPlan, manage, prioritize, coordinate, and or execute multiple parallel activities like calibrations, preventive maintenance, supplier support, project activities, and ensure work is completed on-time.Sustaining EngineeringDevelopment and implementation of procedures to reduce or eliminate sources of systematic equipment failures; continuous improvement and cost savings initiativesInvestigation and resolution of technical problemsUse optical, mechanical, electrical, and or fluidics knowledge to perform equipment troubleshooting.Work in a team environment to improve equipment reliability and uptime.While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, crouch, or wear safety gear. Must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.The position is an Engineer 1 on 2nd shift. The shift is Monday – Friday. The shift has a start time of 2:00 PM.Requirements:Ability to learn and understand component level failuresAbility to operate in a fast pace environment, adapt to changes in priority, and redirect efforts as necessary.Ability to use Microsoft Office and WindowsChemical Analytical equipment repair and troubleshooting is preferredComputer trouble-shooting and repair (preferred experience with Microsoft Windows)Data collection, analysis and able to summarize resultsExperience using engineering troubleshooting toolsExperience with electrical and mechanical schematicsExperience in high volume manufacturing environment preferredGood to Excellent Math and analytical skills Good to Excellent Verbal and written documentation skills in EnglishKnowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) would be a plusKnowledgeable of optical/mechanical/electrical and or fluidic systems knowledge of machine language (PLC, HMI, I/O)Work experience in Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical / Medical Devices industries would be an advantage Listed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
