MINT MOBILE is seeking a talented Database Reliability Engineer II (DRE II) to join the TechOps Team ! Individual reports to Senior Manager, DRE. Role is remote - must reside in the United States .
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Database Reliability Engineer II, you will work with the DRE team supporting multiple datastores and projects. You aim to ensure the best quality of service is provided to our customers and act as a local point for escalations that require leadership.
Your usual day of awesomeness includes:
Maintain the core infrastructure and drive reliability across our database systems
Provide operational support for existing database infrastructure
Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the current data infrastructure
Collaborate with engineering teams on their database needs and advise them throughout the development lifecycle of new product features
Provide technical guidance to development teams, understand the impact of code changes, and help developers write efficient queries
Initiate performance tuning for application and resiliency needs
Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems
Develop and measure critical KPIs that provide insight into Database metrics
Monitor and maintain database security
Participate in 24/7 On call rotation; Typically 1 week on-call every 4-6 weeks. Subject to Change.
Create, review, implement changes to the databases through our SDLC
Guide team (database users) on best practices for the performance and stability of database systems

WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
4+ years of MySql and/or MSSQL experience
2+ years of AWS experience
4+ years of maintaining system infrastructure
4+ years of operational support
Ability to communicate complex business and technical challenges in a clear and concise manner.
Experience with running databases (SQL + NoSQL) in AWS and/or hybrid environments
Experience with query and database performance tuning
Knowledge of database best practices (schema management, index optimization)
Exposure to NoSQL database technologies such as DynamoDB
Knowledge of Amazon EC2/RDS (Aurora)
Experience with Creating and maintaining ETL code (SSIS, AWS Glue or Talend)
Ability to collaborate with architects, developers and the business on database design decisions
Should be familiar with coding languages such as Golang, Python, Node.js, PHP
Ability to use multiple scripting or compiled languages
Good understanding of Linux systems
Monitoring/Alarming distributed systems
Advanced troubleshooting and fault isolation skills
Understanding of system and network security best practices.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Participate in recurring daily stand-ups and grooming meetings and drive tickets to resolution
