The successful candidate will be encouraged to balance multiple priorities with contending deadlines, be passionate about building high quality enterprise applications, and be innovative in their ideas from a technical, process, and relations point of view.About the RoleAs a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in an agile, multidisciplinary team to deliver critical features for Workday’s payroll product. You will design solutions to facilitate complex business transactions within thousands of client companies. You will guide your peers in writing robust, efficient and maintainable code and automated tests using a variety of languages and technologies. These include Workday XpressO, our in-house languages that allow us to build business applications quickly, plus Java and JavaScript. You will share technical ideas with a broad spectrum of audiences, and you will mentor team members by setting the example as an effective technical lead and inspiring them to stretch and grow.About YouBasic Qualifications8+ years of experience developing web applications and/or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products as part of a multi-functional team8+ years of experience with object-oriented design principles, including experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, C#, etc. and in UML modelingOther Qualifications2 years+ experience in Gen AI/ML, deploying ML models in production environments4-year degree in computer science or equivalent experienceExperience developing complex enterprise applicationsExperience in design and analysis of software for performance and scalabilityExperience writing reliable, performant, and maintainable unit and system testsDemonstrated ability triage and resolve production issuesExperience presenting to technical and non-technical audiencesHas led several development projects from inception to deliveryExperience with integrations technologies, such as SOAP and REST APIsKnowledge of payroll and human resources (HR) systems a plusExperience mentoring other engineers and giving feedback to peers in code reviewsWorkday Pay Transparency StatementThe annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
