About the Position
The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller and other members of the finance and accounting team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. This individual will assist with financial reporting, consolidation, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and internal controls. The Assistant Controller will also play a key role in preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and providing support during audits.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Oversee the financial close process, ensuring accurate recording of transactions (including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and consolidation)
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements
Manage inventory and related cost accounting
Prepare and analyze complex financial and operational data and provide accurate and timely financial recommendations for decision-making purposes and strategic initiatives
Stays current with all applicable accounting, tax and other regulations and requirements, adapting policies and practices accordingly
Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal controls
Support the Controller with audit preparations, technical memo drafting, and compliance
Manage accounting team members
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role with substantial management and operational exposure
CPA certification preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Manufacturing/life science industry experience highly desired
Strong organizational leadership abilities with a willingness to "get hands dirty" and act as both a player and a coach
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Netsuite
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Has the ability to handle multiple high priority projects with accuracy
Experience with both domestic and international companies highly preferred
The base salary range is $180,000 - $200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The ranges displayed on each job posting reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries but are subject to change if the leveling of the role is adjusted.
