Recommendations are a core part of how our buyers navigate eBay’s vast and varied inventory. Our team develops state-of-the-art recommendations systems, including deep learning based retrieval systems for personalized recommendations, machine learned ranking models, as well as advanced MLOps in a high volume traffic industrial e-commerce setting.We are exploring a new generation of recommender systems powered by Large Language Models and other emerging paradigms in AI. We are looking for a Staff Engineer and innovator who can drive powerful ML engineering, define research directions, and get systems into production at eBay scale.Primary Job Responsibilities:Design, develop and maintain dedication online services for ebay recommendation system.Build extremely efficient and reliable data pipelines for candidates generation, profile generation, training examples generation, realtime online training, etc;Working with other engineers, managers, designers, product managers to develop innovative globalized large-scale recommendation systems; with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability while meeting realistic implementation schedules and adhering to development goals and principles.Job QualificationsBS, MS, or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).7+ years’ work experience in software development area with at least 5+ years’ experience in Java programming, web development, big data or machine learning.Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, algorithms and data structures.Proficient in large-scale data mining technologies such as Hadoop, Spark and Flink.
