We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Content Editor.  You will analyze historical documents and document collections and describe content to facilitate researcher access within digital archives If this sounds like an opportunity you are interested in, then we would love to talk to you!   About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishmentsBachelor's degree in a related field OR Relevant work experience5 years of work experience in Content Editing or a related position5 years of technical experience, with ability to enter and manipulate data, and learn software and database programs5 years of experience working with Microsoft Office products.5 years of experience establishing and maintaining collaborative, positive working relationships with all levels of employees and multidisciplinary teams It would be great if you also had . . .Graduate coursework or equivalent experience in Publishing, Business, Library/Information Science, or Customer Service.Capacity to learn and master new technology and knowledge of new research environments.At least one year of working experience with databases (i.e., Microsoft Access or another relational database application).Publishing knowledge and knowledge of ProQuest's products.Experience with creation, coordination, and maintenance of taxonomies.Experience in library, classroom or education-related market.Understanding of delivery methods for electronic content (FTP, Web, RSS, Email) and various media storage methods and devices.Knowledge of searching protocol in a library or research environment.What will you be doing in this role?...Analyze U.S. historical materials from the 18th, 19th, and 20thcentury using discretion and independent judgment; identify value-add needed to serve users--from students to historians--and attain market-based objectives.Develop in-depth knowledge of subject breadth and scope to make decisions regarding product content and editorial value-add.Distil relevant information from source materials into concise compositions of varying length and format (indexing, abstracting, short essays).Select descriptive indexing terms that reflect document content, and suggest new terms as needed.Perform quality review. Review accuracy and completeness of source materials, electronic conversions, and editorial content prior to publication.Work in a dynamic team environment, provide peer feedback, participate in product discussions, and contribute to group projects.Master software and editorial tools necessary to perform duties.Manage workload to ensure that deadlines and productivity requirements are met.Produce high-quality work that meets editorial standards with little revision.Take a proactive role in ensuring that editorial value-add enhances product marketability and drives customer usageAbout the teamThe ProQuest One Team operates within Content Operations and is focused on strategy, execution management, and governance of ProQuest One Products. These products combine dozens of legacy products into a single offering, enabling cross-search and enhancing discoverability. Building PQ1 Products requires coordination among many teams to execute. This role sits on a multi-faceted team that functions as a shared-services group.
