We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale data center networks. This Network Engineering team supports all internal engineering teams, including FlashBlade, FlashArray, Pure1, and others, to provide reliable services that allow the company to develop new products and features. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building and optimizing data center networks supporting VXLAN and BGP, along with expertise in load balancing and network firewall technologies.

Network Design and Architecture
Design, architect, and implement complex data center network solutions using VXLAN and BGP protocols.
Develop network architecture blueprints and documentation to support scalability, redundancy, and performance requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions that meet business requirements and support growth initiatives.
Implement an automation-first approach by developing tools and workflows to streamline network provisioning, configuration management, and troubleshooting processes.
Performance Optimization and Troubleshooting
Optimize network performance through continuous monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning.
Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform route cause analysis, and implement timely solutions to minimize downtime and ensure service availability.
Participate in an on-call rotation.
Network Security
Configure and manage network firewalls to enforce security policies and protect against unauthorized access and malicious activities.
Implement security best practices and compliance standards to safeguard network infrastructure and sensitive data.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential security risks.
Load Balancing
Design and implement load balancing solutions to distribute traffic efficiently across network resources and ensure high availability of services.
Configure and optimize load balancers for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Monitor and troubleshoot load balancing configurations to identify and resolve issues promptly.
Public Cloud Networking
Design, deploy, and manage networking components in public cloud environments, including AWS and Azure.
Configure and optimize virtual networks, subnets, and routing tables to ensure seamless connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments.
Implement cloud-native networking services and features to enhance performance, reliability, and security.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and support.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Systems Engineering, and Security to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other IT systems.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on network architecture and operations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
12+ years of experience in network engineering roles, with a focus on supporting data center environments.
Expertise in VXLAN and BGP protocols, including hands-on experience with configuration and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in load balancing technologies and strategies, such as F5, HAProxy, or NGINX.
Strong understanding of network security principles and experience with firewall configuration and management, preferably supporting Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA, or Juniper SRX.
Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure, and familiarity with cloud networking services (e.g., VPC, Azure Virtual Network).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues effectively.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Bonus Skills:
Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP-DC, or equivalent.
Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) technologies and concepts.
Familiarity with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) for network automation and orchestration.
Knowledge of container networking technologies and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
The annual base salary range is: $207,000 – $312,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
