Summary Posted: Jul 31, 2024 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number: 200560484 The Apple Thermal team is seeking a world-class Thermal Engineer to play a key role in the definition and design of Apple products. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that from initial concept to design fruition, all thermal objectives are met or surpassed, and the user experience optimized. Our team is responsible for all thermally related aspects of a highly collaborative, cross-functional design effort. To be successful, you will need to have a thorough understanding of heat and fluid flow with the ability to apply this understanding to complex design problems. Being able to clearly communicate technically complex material is a must, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Description Description You will be tasked with impacting product design decisions by providing reliable analysis and thermal insight. In addition, you will lead the design and implementation of thermal solutions and participate in design reviews and technology investigations. You will also be responsible for: - Specification and optimization of thermal control parameters - Analysis of system test data and preparing executive presentations - Communication of status and results to cross-functional teams and management - Occasional travel required Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Genuine curiosity and a sense of design ownership Experience using IcePak and/or Star-CCM+ for thermal simulations Experience in consumer product implementation and validation M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 3+ years product experience Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Deep technical and functional expertise in conduction, convection (natural and forced), and radiation, as well as numeric modeling techniques and concepts A thorough understanding of the fundamental aspects of a thermal design Strong modeling skills are a requirement with experience accurately capturing complex geometries Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Heat Transfer or Fluid Dynamics Education & Experience Education & Experience Additional Requirements Additional Requirements More Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
