We provide orchestration solutions for other Workday development and operations teams, allowing us to reach the next level of scale.Within this team, we are responsible for Workday’s optimized orchestration engine, which provisions resources to run most of Workday’s tasks. Our platform performs mission critical processing for our customers and has a key role in the scalability of Workday’s platform. We are responsible for high performance, highly-available, and automation-first solutions that act as a product and reliability multiplier for our customers. We solve problems across tenant management, scheduling, metrics, resource utilisation optimisation, reactive scaling. Research, prototyping, innovation, service ownership and technical excellence are essential parts of our team culture.We are a core part of the Workday stack, working with concurrent and distributed systems to provide this background job processing platform for our internal and external customers.And we’re looking for a Software Development Manager to join us!About the RoleSoftware Development Managers on our team:Shape their teams and organisation as we grow.  The services we own experience massive growth and knowing how to adapt makes all the difference.Work with the team to align highly technical projects with the goals of the business.Refine and contribute to the vision of the team, helping to shape the future of our services for Workday customers.Oversee a team of highly technical software engineers who work on complex distributed systems.Build critical systems at scale and work closely with stakeholders across multiple organisations.Manage requirements and trade-offs in a dynamic environment, as we work to increase scale and add features to the services we own.Work with the team day-to-day to deliver value quickly and consistently.About YouBasic QualificationsHave you managed or led a team of developers where Java or Scala is their core development language?Have you worked with large-scale, distributed, highly concurrent systems?Do you have knowledge of methodologies, technologies and architectures employed by software development teams?Do you have 3+ years managing development teams of 6 - 8 software engineers?Do you have 4+ years software design and development experience?Do you have experience with Continuous Delivery, releasing robust code to production frequently, safely and consistently?​Other Qualifications:Bachelors of Science in Computer Science or related engineering disciple desiredAbility to lead efficiently in multicultural fast paced environmentYou have a strong focus on delivering high quality software products and you value test automation and continuous deliveryYou are proactive and able to deliver on initiatives that you start.You demonstrate the interpersonal skills needed to influence important issues or decisions in a multi-functional environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex thoughts into simple, actionable recommendations; You have the ability to communicate technical complexity in simple termsOur Approach to Flexible Work With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
