Collaborates with others to maintain data consistency and integrity.ResponsibilitiesSpace Planning & DesignCreates various/experienced Cage-Cabinet design options that respond to customer requirements, Equinix Requirements and physical site constraints within a diverse scopePrepares notional Cage-Cabinet layouts, area calculations and diagrams for each individual data center and specializes in more complex, larger sitesMaximizes space utilization to develop the best design solution for the Data Center and the customer       Acts as a mentor to more junior membersEngineeringUtilizes experienced knowledge of electrical/mechanical infrastructure to notionally attribute complex Cage-Cabinet designs against Data Center infrastructure within a diverse scopeParticipates in high-density review cases, seeking opinions of SME's or local sites where requiredPerforms the validation and updating of Data Center infrastructure data within capacity systems in a diverse scopeIdentifies issues or constraints in infrastructure capacity and may prepare notional solutions for review by managementActs as a mentor to more junior membersProblem SolvingSolves various/complex, cross-functional issues that span multiple groupsUses experienced skills to identify and understand underlying issuesUnderstands when and to whom to escalate, but tries to solve problem firstData & Drawing ManagementWorks with site operations to address discrepancies with documentation of facility infrastructure and installation of customer cagesEnsures that AutoCAD drawings and capacity systems correctly represent existing status of the data centerIdentifies and makes corrections as necessaryIdentifies and leads the investigation of experienced data issues without supportProduces drawings and space plans for use by Sales, Site Operation and other teamsCreates diverse spatial layouts of each customer cage which are used by the other capacity teams for their reviews, and by the Sales Engineers and site teams for customer installationsDrawing and inventory preparation, which may be reviewed by managerCreates numbering plans for new sites, compiling inventory list, and preparing the drawings files used to track assignmentsCompiles as-built underground utility drawings as required to create a comprehensive record drawing for each site within a diverse scopeCollaborationCollaborates with various teams to identify any power/cooling issues that affect space capacityAnswers experienced inventory-related questions from cross-functional departmentsAbility to engage and gather input from appropriate stakeholders to reach the right solution for the company and the customer within a diverse scopeWhere planning decisions are in dispute between sales and operational needs, the engineer is expected to escalate to the right levelCoordinates with various departments for the monthly reporting of capacity trends, availability and accuracy of records for the siteCapacity Feasibility & OptimizationWorks with Capacity and/or site engineers to identify power and cooling limitations, discuss potential modifications, and develop experienced solutioningActs as the first point of contact for the CFR process to ensure that space is being assigned maximizes the value of our data centers by optimizing the efficiency of our space within a diverse scopeQualificationsExperience reading and editing AutoCAD drawings5+ years experience preferredBachelor's in Electrical Engineering preferredEquinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer.
