Manager, Cloud EngineeringDescription -Description : Leads the development of Software Solutions and Services using Cloud Software development techniques. The Software Cloud Engineering team leads the design, build, and management of Cloud Systems and Infrastructure including Software, Services, and Solutions designed for flexibility, scalability, and resiliency to support current and future business needs in an automated, repeatable way.Typically reports to MG2 or Director.Responsibilities:Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving business/technical issues within established policies.Leads portions of the planning and execution of multiple complex projects or programs in support of the continuing evolution of the organization's software products.Strategically partners with stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.Contributes to technology strategy and engineering roadmaps around cloud platforms/solutions; execute strategic engineering proof of concepts around cloud platforms/solutions.Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing new products, enhancements, and updates. and coordinating projects for systems software, including databases, and Internet-related tools.Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs; ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities.Provides people-care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting, and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.Knowledge & Skills:Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.Solid engineering management experience with agile, project/program management & product development. Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.Metrics driven approach to project management, good to have certifications like PMP.Strong analytical, problem solving, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.Ability to manage human capital across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results. Proven track record in building high performance team, talent development.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.Experience in driving strategic initiatives, long term planning, budgeting & resourcing.Experience working with senior architects, technologists in driving project requirements.Leadership in thought, leading people and building win-win connections. Ability to mentor and lead teams to achieve results for complex, ambiguous projects.Advanced business acumen, technical knowledge, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.Knowledge of Java/.Net, Springboot, Microservices, AWS, Cloud, DevOps, Databases would be an added advantage.Scope & Impact:Acts as leader within the cloud engineering practiceDirectly influences the nature of the work delivered. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniquesTakes responsibility for overall delivery quality with results impacting departmental effectiveness for multiple quarters.Proactively and effectively interacts and partners across different departments within and outside the software engineering function.Complexity:High: Extensive cross-functional/cross-organizational senior management interface; deals with complex strategic issues.Unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories, and techniques. Leads large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower-level employees.Education & Experience:First level university degree or equivalent experience required.May have advanced university degree.10 + years’ experience planning, designing, developing and delivering software, including highly scalable systems as well as extensive experience with service-oriented architecturePeople who have prior managerial experience are preferred.Strong technologist who understands the latest industry trends.
