Our industry-leading, trendsetting edge-to-core solutions provide the foundation for many of the world’s largest and most demanding networks that generate billions in service revenue for our customers.Optical Performance Test EngineerLocation: MunichLab based position, 4 days per week onsite.Job Description – Skills – RequirementsDeep knowledge about the fundamentals of fibre optic transmission systems and optical physics (e.g. theory of linear and non-linear behaviour of photons in materials)The execution and successful completion of DWDM optical performance tests integrated in optical fibre transmission development test programsBackground knowledge about high-speed electro-optical phase and amplitude modulation techniques and high speed digital signal filteringThe ability to setup and configure optical performance tests, fixtures, and instrumentation as required by the test plans and or test standardsGenerate test plans, procedures, and work instructions from customer requirements. Be able to explain and communicate complex optical technology to customers.Implement and deploy optical test methods, testing apparatus and machines and verify their appropriatenessDemonstrable experience of effective problem solving and analysis of complex optical systemsTests and results should ensure compliance to contractual test requirements and must support development processes, plans and proceduresEnsure the accuracy and consistency of data results through thorough documentation processesOperate a variety of computer automated and manual test equipment including fibre optic measurement and characterization devicesOversee several test project simultaneously and provide scheduling support to project leadsSourcing, obtaining quotations, and selecting required lab supplies and materials to conduct testsValidate test methods. Continuously scan and check scientific and industrial community publications for new developmentsAdditional RequirementsPhD or Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline (electrical engineering with focus on fiber optics or optical physics desired)Industrial Or Academic experience in a relevant area, including experience in a testing environment and working with / testing of fibre optic systems & componentsApplications from candidates from Industry or Academia are welcomedDemonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, contract documentation, and government/industry standards and specifications Ongoing commitment to advance knowledge in the field of fibre optics, testing, and standards complianceExecution of tests in strict accordance with the quality system and processExperience in writing automation applications with Python or similar programming languages and toolsDemonstrated familiarity with data acquisition systems, data analysis and processing.Must be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written EnglishFamiliar with test tracking and documentation SW (HP ALM, JIRA etc.)Ability to maintain excellence and accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.Exhibit conscientiousness related to the quality of workSelf-directed and highly motivated#LI-GA1#LI-Onsite“This position requires direct or indirect access to certain confidential information, hardware, software, technology, or technical information (referred to here as “Export-Controlled Information”) controlled under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
