Summary Posted: Jul 16, 2024 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number: 200559170 Apple Services Engineering (ASE) Video Partner Engineering team is looking for a Live Streaming Engineer to join our Services team. Our services power experiences in the Apple TV app on Apple platforms and 3rd Party TVs. You will contribute to architectural discussions, build performant solutions, and participate in team development and knowledge growth. You will be a domain expert for live content acquisition and delivery. You will collect high-level project requirements, take ownership to lead multi-functional teams, and deliver outstanding software. You will join a hardworking and hands-on live streaming engineering team that nurtures inclusiveness, creativity, and pragmatism. We deliver highly available and performant internal solutions that power our outstanding live streaming experiences across the Apple TV App ecosystem. Description Description Work cross-functionally with internal teams to drive new features and processes. Interface with vendors on proof-of-concept evaluations and issue resolution. Support event-operations teams on live-streaming services. Assist in broadcast transmission check-ins and validations for live events. Setup and maintain live encoding workflows. Work with client teams to ensure features are performing as expected across devices. Diagnose and troubleshoot live video delivery issues with urgency. Work with support teams to craft issue communication with leadership. Troubleshoot complex partner and vendor integrations. Creating, maintaining and executing playbooks, RCAs, and integration specifications. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 3+ years experience Experience working with live HLS streaming and DRM services Strong understanding of broadcast transport technologies Familiar with livestream ad-insertion technologies Comfortable with command line tools (chmod, curl, grep, ssh, scp) Experience working with observability tools (Grafana, Kibana, DataDog) ** This role will require after-hours and weekend support ** Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Some scripting experience (Python, Bash) Familiar with data interchange formats (XML, JSON) Familiar with RESTful API utilization and debugging Familiar with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNI Experience analyzing system logs BS/BA in Video/Broadcast Engineering or equivalent. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
