You are expected to keep in mind the aspects of product quality, optimal resource utilization, and security while developing software. In this role, you will not only be responsible for the design and development of software but will also have the opportunity to learn/explore new technologies. You will also have the opportunity to work directly with customers. We are looking for a Software engineer with 10+ years of experience in working closely with developers and other stakeholders to plan, design, and develop best-in-class mainframe software. Responsibilities will go beyond pure development to include other aspects, for example, CI/CD, process improvement, coaching and mentoring, and actively working to improve the status quo. Emotional intelligence, great communication skills, and a hunger for learning are extremely important in this role.Key ResponsibilitiesTogether with other team members, take ownership of your product:-Work collaboratively within an Agile Team in order to achieve the Definition of Done and meet team commitmentsAdopt a test-first approach to software development in which, where possible, the test is developed before the codeWork with customers or support engineers to provide assistance or resolve problemsParticipate in design sessions, estimation efforts, and code reviews with other engineersParticipate in test plan reviewsPlan, design, execute enhancements and new features/productsEffectively communicate, and follow up with team members to resolve dependenciesActively support and contribute to end-of-iteration demosActively foster continuous team improvement in self and team, for example by:-Contributing to team retrospectivesCoaching/mentoring other engineersPro-actively setting and completing self-learning goalsKeeping up-to-date on industry news to suggest improvements to existing processes and toolsWrite and maintain internal documentation to describe the enhancements for other team membersAs needed, use and maintain tools such as Jenkins to manage the CI/CD pipeline and monitor for potential problems eg. using quality gates or metrics such as code coverageActively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundariesTypical Role DefinitionProfessional Staff.
