Director of Site Reliability Engineering

Workiva is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead our talented team and shape the future of our platform's reliability. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in building a high-performing team focused on scalability, efficiency, and exceptional customer experience.What You'll DoLead and empower a team of SREs in building, maintaining, and monitoring Workiva's mission-critical cloud platformPartner with product engineering teams to design and implement highly reliable, scalable, and efficient cloud-based microservicesChampion Site Reliability Engineering best practices within WorkivaDevelop and implement strategies to ensure platform availability, performance, and resilience Manage incident responses and post-mortem processes to ensure learnings are captured and implementedOversee the development of automation tools to improve system reliability and organizational efficiencyDrive continuous improvement in operational processes and practicesCollaborate with stakeholders to align SRE goals with business objectivesFoster a collaborative and results-oriented team environmentWhat You'll NeedRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or related career experience)10+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or related field3+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teamsPreferred Qualifications5+ years experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or as an engineer building production systems at scaleExperience working with and leading a consultative engineering teamExperience crafting and implementing architecture and/or system design standards across an engineering organizationProficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash)Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologiesProven track record of managing large-scale cloud infrastructures and distributed systemsStrong technical background in cloud-based architectures and systems, including containerization and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)Experience crafting and implementing architecture and/or system design standards across an engineering organizationStrong technical background in cloud-based architectures and systemsExcellent communication, leadership, and emotional intelligence skillsTravel Requirements & Working Conditions25% travel for team jams and internal meetingsReliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva officeHow You’ll Be Rewarded✅ Salary range in the US: $167,000.00 - $284,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits packageThe salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
