The team is composed of exceptional professionals who are experts in negotiating technology, marketing, real estate and other transactions. The team partners with groups throughout Workday to achieve company goals and reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Employment & Inbound Legal.About the RoleThe Sr. Manager partners with Global Procurement, Marketing, People & Purpose, Business Technology, Real Estate & Workplace and other business functions to support our values of innovation, customer service, integrity, and profitability, and drive Workday’s strategic initiatives. They are an outstanding lawyer who can manage a team,  while negotiating their own deals, and leading team projects in a fast-paced environment.  They build relationships with management and executives.  They possess exceptional judgment and business insight and are comfortable advising business and legal partners on complex matters. They build efficiencies to empower clients to make thoughtful decisions with speed. Responsibilities for this role include:Demonstrate leadership on Inbound Legal matters, driving strategic initiatives across the organization to facilitate growth, and reduce unnecessary risk.Provide strategic leadership to the Inbound Legal Team and business clients on RFPs, contract template creation and utilization, contract negotiation, renewals, and dispute resolution..Counsel and provide guidance to Global Procurement on federal contractor obligations, responsible AI, GDPR, HIPAA, and other privacy standards, TUPE rights, and other regulatory matters.Draft, review, and negotiate various types of contractual agreements;Develop templates, playbooks, and other enablement materials to facilitate business negotiations and deployment of supplier services.Implement efficiencies to improve contract processes and operations.About YouBasic QualificationsJ.D. Degree and membership in at least 1 state bar in good standing8+ years of transactional legal experience at a law firm or in-house2+ years of people leadership experienceOther QualificationsExceptional contract negotiation and drafting skills;Exceptional written and oral communication skills, enabling effective communication with legal and non-legal audiences at all levels;Adept at collaborating with leadership in fast paced transactions, preferably with broad experience across enterprise software/SaaS, marketing, human resources, etc.;High level of integrity, professionalism, curiosity, humility, and willingness to grow;Demonstrated ability to predict the future needs of the business, to develop strategies to support those needs, and to deliver results;Ability to independently determine and develop solutions to complex legal issues that are practical, clearly and timely communicated, and consistent with business objectives;Detail-oriented with the ability to balance pipeline of transactions and projects simultaneously under pressure;Exercises superior judgment and in tune with complex needs of the business to advise clients in an effective and creative manner;Nurtures internal and external relationships and drives project collaboration with cross-functional networks;Consistently applies strategic focus, critical thinking and problem solving by appropriately weighing risks and business objectivesProactively seeks out and leads projects using strong organizational and project management skills; drives and leads process improvements using best practices and lean principles.Willingness to drive creative solutions, build efficient processes and make sound decisions; not afraid to challenge the status quo or identify and drive change.Workday Pay Transparency StatementThe annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
