The Role:
Location: Required to be onsite 2-3 days a week or as needed in our San Francisco, CA office.
The Tax Manager is integral to the Forge global tax function. This role will primarily focus on domestic tax and secondarily on international tax matters. This individual also works closely with the broader Forge finance function and helps ensure that Forge complies with its tax obligations in the jurisdictions in which Forge operates. This includes providing for taxes accurately and completely in its financial statements and supporting business operations to ensure an optimal and efficient tax structure.
Responsibilities:
Manage ASC 740 Income Taxes preparation and review of annual and interim provisions.
Prepare internal tax technical memoranda to support tax positions.
Oversee the US Consolidated Income Tax Return preparation and returns for all required State and Local jurisdictions; including tax form submissions, statutory filings and applicable disclosures.
Assist in tax projects such as Sec 382 NOL studies, filings for sales/use tax assessments, and tax planning for high-tax jurisdictions.
Model the federal tax impact of new legislation, accounting standards, and/or planning projects and help implement new tax planning initiatives.
Maintain the tax calendar and ensure timely completion of federal and local tax filings and estimated tax payments.
Assist in international tax initiatives, including transfer pricing.
Determine tax impact of potential M&A transactions.
Work with external tax advisor to ensure compliance with business and franchise taxes including gross receipts taxes and rent taxes.
Manage and coordinate with internal and external preparers the size and scope of Forge’s R&D tax credits and Sec 174, R&D amortization.
Provide support relating to US tax examinations and respond to inquiries by the IRS.
Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time in an office or home office setting while working
Qualifications
5+ years of relevant tax experience (ideally with a mix at both a Big 4 accounting firm and in industry)
In-depth knowledge of ASC 740 Income Taxes.
Significant experience with the preparation and review of US tax returns.
Technical knowledge of U.S. tax provision affecting international operations including Sub F, GILTI, FDII, FTCs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong with Excel.
Outstanding detail-orientation and process-orientation skills.
Excellent speaking and communication skills while working with business teams and explaining tax concepts to both tax and non-tax audiences, collaborative and positive orientation.
A desire to work in a fast growing, exciting and agile business - willingness to pivot and learn.

For residents of San Francisco/Bay Area, CA or New York, NY the annual salary range for this role is $160,000-$170,000 + bonus. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, annual bonus, and other factors.
