In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to direct a team working on innovative problems in machine learning, particularly focused on LLM's. In the Apple HCMI group, we work across the arc of machine learning/generative AI product development from feature design and iteration, data collection, model building, evaluation and red teaming, focused on ensuring that features uphold Apple's values and quality standards. This will require working flexibly with multiple partners and dealing with substantial ambiguity, even while driving toward consistency and shared processes. As a dynamic and constantly evolving area, you will need to lead through both formal and formal methods to responsibly deliver phenomenal products. Description Description - Research and advance red teaming methods for LLM's and diffusion models
- Research and develop mitigations and safeguards to ensure safe deployment of LLM's in Apple products
- Develop tools, metrics, and datasets for assessing and evaluating the safety of LLM's over the model deployment lifecycle, as well as methods and tools to help interpret and explain failures in language models Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in ML research Publication record in relevant conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, EMNLP, etc.) Hands-on experience working with deep learning toolkits such as Tensorflow or PyTorch Deep understanding of NLP and LLM's Ability to formulate a research problem, design, experiment, implement and communicate solutions Ability to work in a diverse collaborative environment Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications PhD or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, or related technical field is helpful Education & Experience Education & Experience Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $210,900 and $316,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
