Several new engineering teams within the area of payments will be created from scratch in our Dreilinden office close to Berlin. We are looking for a Senior Software Manager (d/f/m) who will lead one of these new teams and who can help us build exciting products for our financial services at eBay. You will be working on new experiences for millions of customers, such as providing tailored financing solutions to our sellers. You will lead a team developing modern Java/Spring Boot web services as well as Javascript front-end applications by steering the team on both personal and technical aspects, defining the technical roadmap, defining system designs, and helping your team members to grow and succeed in their careers. Moreover, you work closely with the wider engineering team of the new engineering hub.It’s a unique opportunity to be part of a new team based on a collaborative, transparent and highly technical team culture.What you will accomplish:Mentor and guide your team members both on technical and career aspects.Understand requirements of new products and translate these requirements into a scalable software design in a highly distributed system of micro-services.Own the development and optimization of our core backend applications in Java/Spring Boot as well as frontend applications in Javascript/HTML/CSS, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.Ensure security standard processes are coordinated into our development and deployment processes.Know the latest about new Java/JavaScript/Python development, and architectural standard methodologies.Lead by example, giving high-quality code reviews, and encouraging a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Become a domain expert of the highly complex ecosystem of payments within eBay.What you will bring:Experience in building large scale web services and back-end and front-end applications using Java/J2EE/Spring Boot, RESTful Web Services, HTML/CSS/Javascript/TypeScript/React, HTTP and JSON technologies.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree and 10+ years of software development and design on large-scale, high-volume systems in a microservice based architecture.A minimum of 5 years of management experienceStrong ability to coach engineers & great at mentoring, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers.Knowledge of networking, security, database design, and CI/CD pipelines.Proficient in microservices, event driven architecture and container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).Developed and drove adoption of technical patterns that significantly improved engineering practices across the organization.First experience in applying AI to practical and comprehensive technology solutions would be a plus.Please see the Talent Privacy Notice for information regarding how eBay handles your personal data collected when you use the eBay Careers website or apply for a job with eBay.eBay is an equal opportunity employer.
