Systems EngineerStatus: Exempt (Salaried)Department: Reliability EngineeringPosition SummaryPlug Power is the industry leader providing hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for material handling equipment, backup power systems and on-road vehicles. The Systems Engineer is responsible for system level design of fuel cell systems. The Reliability team is responsible for improving the life and serviceability of the product. The role of a systems engineer on the reliability team includes improving the architecture and software controls of fuel cell systems for E mobility, stationary and industrial truck market. Ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a strong background in engineering.  This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and is willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organizationCore Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign control algorithms and state machines to maximize fuel cell efficiency and performance.Develop architectures for fuel cell systems to the applicable codes and standards.Participate in FMEA and Hazard analysis of fuel cell and related systems.Utilize structured problem-solving methods for root cause analysis.Develop test plans and test validation documentation.Develop and execute system level testing and data analysis.Develop and execute validation plans for fuel cells for end user applications.Work professionally and cooperatively in a cross-functional team environment with a focus upon maximizing system performance and customer satisfaction.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfaction.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Systems engineering, or related field.Minimum two years of related work experience in the fuel cell systems or related field.Experience with fuel cell system architecture and controls is preferred.Demonstrated aptitude for systems thinking and creative problem solvingEffective communication abilities; strength in communicating complex concepts in an understandable formComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Matlab, C, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
