The ideal candidate will have experience working in a materials lab, analyzing materials used in electronic products, and developing test protocols for new materials and technologies. The selected candidate will be part of a Materials Science Lab responsible for quality and reliability assessments, failure analysis, restricted substance testing, and materials analysis support across all of HP. As an Expert level Chemist/Chemical Engineer in Advanced Compute Solutions, you will:Lead project teams of other scientists and engineers, for complex projects and programs.Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provide tangible feedback to improve product quality.Provide materials analysis and failure analysis services on all HP products and their sub-systems as required.Analyze materials using chemical and mechanical test and analysis equipment.Perform chemical sample preparations including cross-sections, component teardown, liquid extractions using solvents, etc.Analyze component composition using a variety of materials analysis equipment including but not limited to: GCMS, FTIR, SEM/EDS, Microscopy, Instron, Real-time X-ray, TGA/DSC, and basic chemistry tools.Provide supervision and support to MSL contingent workers, including safety management and lab organization.Write reports and document results from lab assignments, including reviewing reports from other team members.Create Standard Operating Procedures for various types of lab equipment.Train others on various tools and techniques.Work with partners and suppliers to influence and create solutions to complex issues.Partner with other strategic technologists and product planners to design and enable analysis of future products.Represent HP as a technical expert advising and making recommendations to customers, field sales, and senior management on materials analyses.Potential to own other related strategic technologies with the same described intents.Are you a high performer? We are looking for an individual with: A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or significant experience in a related technical field.5+ years of experience working in a materials analysis lab.Independent judgment to develop plans and criteria for setting and achieving objectives.Extreme curiosity to understand and predict where technologies are heading in our future.Proven ability to manage time effectively and lead multiple projects simultaneously across businesses.Ability to manage and expand strategic relationships with external partners and suppliers.Experience managing issues of technical and logistic complexity.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.Impact & Scope• Impacts function and leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives.Complexity• Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.Disclaimer• This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed in this role. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is 118,050.00- 171,200.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity.
