Senior Database Administrator

This role offers the opportunity to drive best practices and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure the smooth operation of our systems.What You'll DoWork with a small team of DBAs in supporting and optimizing Workiva's database infrastructureCollaborate closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issuesDevelop and implement best practices for databases, including infrastructure, usage patterns, and support, ensuring a high performing and reliable platformEscalate and address performance bottlenecks, focusing on optimizing critical system components.Provide L3 support to Site Reliability Engineering and Software Support Engineering teams for production issues related to databases Drive the ongoing projects collaborating with infrastructure engineering and product teamsProvide guidance to engineering teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvementContribute to database-centric initiatives, such as refactoring some of Workiva’s critical backend services from MySQL to PostgreSQLWhat You'll Need2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience Preferred QualificationsStrong Proficiency in PostgreSQL to support application needs within the Workiva ecosystemProficiency in MySQL administrationProficiency in AWS Cloud, including Aurora RDSExperience working with open-source database technologiesPrevious experience with database upgrades and migrationsFamiliarity with performance monitoring and tuning toolsStrong scripting and automation experienceExcellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with engineering teamsProven ability to lead small teams and drive best practices in a collaborative environmentStrong team communication skills to foster collaboration and teamworkProven ability to support all engineering efforts across the organizationSupportive mindset towards enabling teams and fostering best practicesEmploying a tactful approach to problem-solving, escalation management, and ensuring smooth operations, while also handling critical or sensitive informationPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsEmbrace your inner wanderlust – expect up to 15% travelStay virtually untethered with the power of reliable internet access, enabling you to work remotely from your chosen spot, whether that's your home office or a beachside caféHow You’ll Be Rewarded✅ Salary range in the US: $79,000.00 - $134,000.00✅ A discretionary bonus typically paid annually✅ Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire✅ 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits packageThe salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
