System Engineer II Status: Exempt (salaried) Position SummaryThe System Engineer is a critical member of the Engineering and Operation Support team for green Hydrogen generation and liquefaction plant. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the design of hydrogen generation, compression, liquefaction, and storage at all Plug Power plant locations. By partnering with Projection Execution and Plant Operation, the System Engineer will develop a thorough understanding of the process and system integration of the green Hydrogen plant and will be an integral part to continually improve its effectiveness and design. The System Engineer will be an integral part to help in the implementation of the current technology, assist in the development and design of new facilities, and provide information and engineering support throughout engineering, construction, and commissioning/startup phases with regard to all aspects of system engineering. This role is vital to support Plug Power technology to further the Company’s reputation as the industry leader in gas/liquid hydrogen plant development and operation. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesBy partnering with the engineering, production, commissioning, and plant operation, maintenance teams, develop a thorough understanding of the process and performance requirements of the Hydrogen plant and will be an integral part to continually improve its effectiveness and designWork with assigned regional hydrogen production facilities, providing on-site engineering assistance for plant commissioning, startup, and maintenance activities, and providing remote or on-site technical support to operational facilities in distress.Develop, maintain, and update P&IDs and system design for the entire facility throughout project execution and operation phases, including: thermal-hydraulic calculations; control logic diagrams and cause & effect charts; process & equipment data sheets.Participate in HAZOP/LOPA and resolve related action items.Identify and implement plant productivity improvement opportunities with local plant operation teams by utilizing varieties of engineering tools such as process simulation software (Unisim), operational historians (PI/OSISoft products or similar data historian). Proactive in providing value-added solutions to current designs.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, MS is preferred.A minimum of five (5) years working experience in process/chemical plant environment and system/process engineering/operation.Strong knowledge of material balance, process engineering, control/automation system, plant hydraulics, and process safety management.Experience in specifying and troubleshooting process equipment including compressors, expanders, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tank, liquefaction and purification packages, and piping systemHands-on experience in specifying and troubleshooting different process instruments and measurement systems such as gas analyzer, control valves, relief valves, transmitters.Working knowledge of industry codes and standards including NFPA, API, and ASME.Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.Superior written and oral communication skills.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Must be driven and self-motivated.Experience in leading and and/or coordinating cross-function teams.Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position – up to 30%.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.Preferred Skills and Experience:Experience with large scale construction projects, durations of 6 to 18 months or operation/design experience with H2 plant facilities.Required experience in plant design and operation with gas processing, cryogenics, ASU, LNG, and preferred liquified hydrogen processes and electrolyzers.E.I.T. certificate or P.E. license highly preferredPay Rate:$76,900.00 - $115,400.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
