Software Technical Program ManagerDescription -Software Program Manager Job Description Level: ExpertSummary:We are looking for an experienced Software Program Manager to join our team. You will leverage your experience in solid program and project planning fundamentals combined with expertise in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to drive the planning and execution of a complex software program within a broader hardware-leaning ecosystem. This role requires a unique understanding of the challenges and tradeoffs necessary to iteratively build software in a date driven organization. Responsibilities:Serve as a primary point of coordination and communication between separate business units to help build a realistic program plan that respects the necessary dependencies to achieve the overall program success.Communicate project status, risks, and issues to partners and stakeholders.Support the successful planning and execution of key software deliverables working closely with teams using agile methodologies.Drive, manage and improve the Discovery phase when device support or new feature requests are brought to the Software Development program. Partner with Product Management and other Program Managers to facilitate and improve the software requirements gathering process to ensure appropriate lead times and clear Acceptance Criteria is supplied.When possible, aid in documenting and clarifying the requirements as User Stories to be further refined with the software development teams.Manage and communicate program risks and dependencies, proactively implementing necessary mitigation strategies with the team or stakeholders.Partner with the Scrum Masters and Agile Coach to gather, analyze and act on development metrics to ensure project success.Share relevant metrics with stakeholders to communicate progress.Attend agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, sprint reviews, as needed to build a good understanding of the process, issues and opportunities.Help teams break down, understand, and refine the product or project backlog when applicable.Foster and support a culture of continuous improvementAdvocate and educate when needed on why software development is better suited to an agile approach.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).7-10 years of experience in software development, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies and influences (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean).Proven track record of successfully managing complex software projects.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Strong understanding of Agile as a mindset/philosophy.Working knowledge of Scrum and lean principles and practices.Solid understanding of project planning considerations including task sequencing, dependency management, critical path methodology and parallel work streamsPreferred skills and qualificationsGood conceptual understanding of enterprise applications/architectures and Software Delivery LifecycleCertification in Agile methodologies: e.g. CSM, PSM, CPO, etc. With a strong preference for Certified Product Owner (CPO) experience.SAFe certification, ICAgile and Kanban certifications are a plus.Experience with Jira (JQL, Board creation, Reports, Dashboards etc.) HP offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:• Dental insurance• Disability insurance• Employee assistance program• Flexible schedule• Flexible spending account• Health insurance• Life insurance Per the Californstatute, the estimated range of compensation for this job in that location, at the time of this posting, is $118,000- $150,000.
