Chemical EngineerDescription -Job Summary• This role is responsible for establishing organization-wide architectures and methodologies, and evaluating emerging technologies and innovations in chemical engineering. The role leads substantial cross-functional teams, and demonstrates independent problem-solving capabilities to address business challenges. The role optimizes and enhances the quality of projects, and ensures designs and project activities comply with established technology and development standards. The role exerts influence over the decision-making processes of executive business leadership, external development partners, and industry standards groups.Responsibilities• Develops organization-wide architectures and methodologies for chemistry and chemical engineering design and development across multiple platforms.• Assists in strategy and setting functional policy and direction in chemical engineering, leveraging area of expertise.• Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update of new technologies into the architecture.• Reviews and approves cost estimates, business cases, appropriation requests and plans for chemical engineering projects, submitted as part of optimization and quality enhancement efforts.• Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards.• Integrates suggestions, updates, and innovations into overall architecture.• Drives continuous improvement projects to improve quality, productivity, and safety, while also reducing cost.• Leads large cross-functional teams, exercising independent judgment to solve unique and complex problems impacting the business.• Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of chemical design innovation and excellence.Education & Experience Recommended• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in chemistry practices, lab procedures, process improvement, people management, or a related field.Preferred Certifications• Six Sigma Certification• American Production And Inventory Control Society (APICS) CertificationKnowledge & Skills• Analytical Chemistry• Auditing• Automation• Biochemistry• Biology• Chemical Engineering• Chemical Process• Chemistry• Data Analysis• Environment Health And Safety• Good Manufacturing Practices• High-Performance Liquid Chromatography• Laboratory Information Management Systems• Manufacturing Processes• New Product Development• Organic Chemistry• Physics• Process Development• Process Engineering• ProcurementCross-Org Skills• Effective Communication• Results Orientation• Learning Agility• Digital Fluency• Customer CentricityImpact & Scope• Impacts large functions and leads large, cross-division functional teams or projects.Complexity• Provides highly innovative solutions to complex problems within established policy.Disclaimer• This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed in this role.
