Writing System Engineer (Large Format Printer)Description -Business Environment:The NPDI (New Product Development and Introduction) under MTO (Microfluidic Technology & Operation) is an organization working to develop new technology and deliver winning products to marketplace. This Writing System team is focus on delivering the technology and products by validating the design robustness and reliability in the systems. The team supports a diverse portfolio in print business- Home, Office, Large Format Design and Large Format Production product segments. The broad range of products provide the team great opportunities to work on different technology, expose to different market segments and multiple opportunities for career development.Writing System Engineer (Large Format Printer)NPDI Writing System Engineer is responsible to deliver product that meet the design requirement in terms of design robustness & reliability.Duties & responsibilities include:This role involves leading tests on the printer system to demonstrate PHA and/or Ink baseline performance. For example: Nozzle health, edge roughness, spray, decap, flowrate, color and other print quality metrics will be the standard performance metrics to monitor while looking for pen/ink/printer related interaction issues.Pen fluidic and ink characterization (example: DW, DV, Refill, DBOS analysis). The WS engineer will collaborate with fluidic architects or pen product engineers to gather data illustrating the expected fluidic architecture and ink performance, and to identify any issues with the integrated system.Autopsy/Triage/Failure tracking. This task involves collecting failed printheads, performing the initial triage, coordinating the appropriate failure analysis work, summarizing, reporting out the analysis, and assign next steps for each one of them.Lead issue resolution using structured lean problem-solving methods.Close collaboration with other print cartridge team in Corvallis/San Diego, printer partners in Barcelona or Singapore.Interact with Ink Supplies and Ink Operations (ISIO) manufacturing teams. Transfer & support printhead manufacturing qualification.Individuals who will do well in this role usually possesses:Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical/mechanical/Material/Chemical engineering related majorPossesses a comprehensive technical background and systems-oriented mindset.Utilizes both analytical and empirical problem-solving techniques.Exhibits a proactive, hands-on attitude, adept at crafting innovative solutions to overcome obstacles.Displays a systemic perspective, adept at recognizing interconnections and thriving in dynamic settings.Embraces a growth mindset, with a strong emphasis on flexibility and adaptability.Capable of collaborating across various time zones and with diverse teams.Open to occasional travel, approximately 25% of the time.Preferred experience for HP internal candidates includes:Strong Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) fundamentalsFamiliarity with PHA product knowledge, particularly TIJ4 printheadsExperience with large format printer print systemsKnowledge of ink suppliesAbility to conduct printer and PHA print tests, characterization tests, and reliability testsProficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE)Familiar with Lean Problem-Solving methodologyCompetence in data analytics, statistical analysis, charting, and reportingSustainable impact is HP’s commitment to create positive, lasting change for the planet, its people, and our communities.
