NPI Engineer (Large Format Printer)Description -Business Environment:NPDI (New Product Development and Introduction) under MTO (Microfluidic Technology & Operation) is an organization working to develop new technology and deliver winning products to marketplace. Falcon NPI Team is focus on process delivering the technology and products by ensuring process readiness and validating product performance. The team supports a diverse and growing business portfolio in Page Wide Industrial, Large Format Production, 3D plastic and metal segment.The NPDI organization is looking for a Product/Process Engineer to deliver NPI activities for the development of the printhead assemble. The engineer will be part of the development team to provide the solution to determine the quality plan for new manufacturing processes and validate the quality of the product before launch.NPI Engineer (Large Format Printer)Proto Build:Collaborate closely with San Diego partners to define NPI (New Product Introduction) strategy and build plans.Coordinate with Singapore Falcon production to plan, manage, and execute complex proto builds.Oversee inventory forecasting, shipments, proto material readiness, and quality assurance.Proto Process:Develop and define process changes needed for various NPI projects (e.g., recipe adjustments, bypassing default production for proto builds, specification modifications).Work closely with the operational team to carry out NPI experiments and lead technical troubleshooting efforts.Qualify proto tools for production builds.Product Quality:Take accountability and responsibility for delivering characterization and reliability tests.Manage different stages of the product life cycle, ensuring product quality for new generations of printheads and supplies.Develop, characterize, and optimize product specifications to meet quality, performance, and reliability standards.Define and implement manufacturing quality control plans.Analyze failed printheads to determine failure modes.Set up product characterization test tools.Individuals who do well in this role usually possesses:Bachelor's or master’s degree in electrical/mechanical/Material/Chemical engineering related major.Typically 4-6 years experience.Possesses a comprehensive technical background and systems-oriented mindset.Utilizes both analytical and empirical problem-solving techniques.Exhibits a proactive, hands-on attitude, adept at crafting innovative solutions to overcome obstacles.Displays a systemic perspective, adept at recognizing interconnections and thriving in dynamic settings.Embraces a growth mindset, with a strong emphasis on flexibility and adaptability.Capable of collaborating across various time zones and with diverse teams.Open to occasional travel, approximately 25% of the time.Preferred experience for HP internal candidates includes:Strong Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) fundamentalsFamiliarity with PHA product knowledge, particularly TIJ4 printheadsExperience with large format printer print systemsKnowledge of ink suppliesAbility to conduct printer and PHA print tests, characterization tests, and reliability testsProficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE)Familiar with Lean Problem-Solving methodologyCompetence in data analytics, statistical analysis, charting, and reportingSustainable impact is HP’s commitment to create positive, lasting change for the planet, its people, and our communities.
