The ideal candidate will have a strong background in edge networking technologies, distributed caching, cloud security, and cybersecurity principles. The Day to Day: Design, deploy, and manage edge networking architectures to optimize network performance and ensure low-latency connectivity for distributed applications and services.Design, develop, and consult on cloud-based network architectures solutions and best practicesImplement and maintain edge security solutions, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and secure web gateways, to protect against external threats and unauthorized accessStay up-to-date on emerging cloud technologies, security threats, and industry trends to continuously improve our cloud security postureDevelop and maintain documentation related to cloud network architecture and processesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into edge networking solutions and ensure alignment with business objectivesProvide technical guidance and support to internal teams on edge networking and cloud security best practices, including edge computing principles and technologiesConstantly look for opportunities to automate and optimizeContinuously improve WP Engine’s secure, performant software platform that supports 10’s of millions of end usersExpand and fine-tune observability services to aid engineering and support efforts and create better feedback loopsWork closely with Product Management to ensure that your changes add new value to our customersFurther an ecosystem of learning and mentorship Your Expertise:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or a related field) OR equivalent experience7+ years experience in a cloud networking, cloud security, or SRE role with a heavy emphasis on those functions, delivering high quality solutions.Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Cloud Security Engineer (CCSE), CCIE, CCNP, or CISSPDeep understanding in several networking and security operational concepts TCP, UDP, DNS, IPv4 + IPv6, BGP routing, GRE, SD-WAN, MPLS, Global Traffic Management, NAT, SSL/TLS, CDN, Firewall/WAF, OWASP, operational security, etc.HTTP technologies including reverse proxy (e.g., WAF and CDN), forward proxy (secure web gateway), serverless application developmentUnderstanding of, or experience with, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., SOC-2, NIST, CIS) and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO/IEC)Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching, with hands-on experience in configuring cloud network infrastructureKnowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins) for infrastructure as code (IaC) and automationExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issuesStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentExperience with cloud and containerised technologies and services - GCP, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker.Passionate about SRE principles and building resilient, reliable systemsTrack record of building resilient, scalable, enterprise-grade solutions.Ability to work with and switch between multiple programming languages. Base Salary Range$148,000.00 - $222,000.00We believe that compensation should be reflective of the impact you have within the organization relative to the market value of your role. The estimated base salary range for this position is as listed above. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Our salary ranges are determined by job role and responsibilities and level.
