The Role and the TeamProofpoint is seeking a Channel Sales Engineer to join our growing Sales Engineering team in the United States. As a Senior Channel Sales Engineer, you will be one of the most important members of the Proofpoint sales team. You will be relied on daily as you work closely with other members of the channel sales team to deliver the most successful security platform available. You will get to know your partners well, as they utilize you as their technical point of contact through our mutual customers’ sales cycles. You will develop/coach/mentor the technical community in Proofpoint’s channel resellers to pitch, demonstrate, and lead a customer proof of concept engagement for all products in the Proofpoint portfolio. Location:Candidates should be located in any major city in the North East U.S. with close proximity to Buffalo.Provide technical pre-sales support for channel sales teamsDevelop and execute a channel reseller technical plan that compliments the business plan and accelerates Proofpoint technology adoptionEnable/Mentor/Coach the reseller technical teams to drive the pre-sales cycle from pitch to demonstration to successful evaluationProvide assistance in developing Partner services built around the Proofpoint PlatformDesign complex People Centric security solutions and support the building of quotations for customer sales presentationsDevelop relationships with Sales, channel sales, customer success, and other critical stakeholders in support of Proofpoint sales objectivesDevelop relationships with Partner Technical teams and their leadership to establish a Proofpoint preference.Provide technical expertise and real-life experience in creating solutions, designs, proof of concept and implementationConduct research and use knowledge of competitive solutions to effectively address and dispel customer objectionsEducate partner technical teams on the product solutionsWork alongside Threat researchers on partner-led client assessmentsDrive high levels of customer and partner satisfactionJob Requirements:7+ years industry experience in sales engineeringMust have a good understanding of the sales process and the roles and responsibilities of a sales engineerExperience in either secure messaging, data security or another cyber-security related fieldWell versed in enterprise email solutions such as Exchange or Lotus Domino or expert level knowledge of SMTPYou have been a part of a sales team before or you want your career to go that direction.Understanding of Directory Services integrationUnderstanding of networking and other common protocols; SMTP, LDAP, HTTP, etc.Strong technical presentation and communication skills, both verbal and writtenMust be able to thrive in a fast paced, high energy environmentAbility to work independently, adapt quickly, and maintain a positive attitudeKnowledge of Channel reseller types and ways to help them grow their businessBSCS/BSEE or equivalent experienceExperience in working in a remote officeTravel is REQUIRED in this role#LI-RP1If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
