Classification SpecialistDescription -Job Summary• This role is responsible for comprehending and interpreting international trade laws of medium complexity, leading trade incident investigations, and advising on trade compliance. The role deploys compliance strategies across business units, monitors changes in regulations, and contributes to risk assessments and audits. The role operates independently to lead projects and resolve complex issues, and aid in implementation of operational plans.Responsibilities• Carries out research and interpretation of international trade laws and regulations of medium complexity including sanctions, embargoes, and customs procedures.• Supports trade processes and systems by applying knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, and works on deployment of trade compliance strategies.• Leads investigation of trade compliance incidents with medium to high complexity.• Advises business units and global functions on trade compliance requirements of medium complexity.• Monitors the changing internal and external environment with respect to international trade laws and regulations and updates policies, procedures, and controls to reflect changes.• Assists in preparation of risks assessments, advisory opinions, and defense papers related to trade compliance practices.• Supports internal and external trade compliance audits by gathering required documentation, responding to inquiries, and addressing findings.• Solves difficult and complex problems with a fresh perspective, demonstrating good judgment in selecting creative solutions.• Leads moderate to high complexity projects, delivering professionally written reports, and supports the realization of operational and strategic plans.Education & Experience Recommended• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Law, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.• Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in trade compliance, customs / global trade, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.Preferred CertificationsNAKnowledge & SkillsNACross-Org Skills• Effective Communication• Results Orientation• Learning Agility• Digital Fluency• Customer CentricityImpact & Scope• Impacts multiple teams and may act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process.Complexity• Responds to moderately complex issues within established guidelines.Disclaimer• This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed in this role.
