Engineering ManagerDescription -Job Summary• This role is responsible for leading a team of individual contributors, overseeing engineering solutions and project coordination for manufacturing. The role manages multiple projects by applying advanced subject matter knowledge, and ensures resource allocation, schedules, and costs align with goals and organizational roadmaps. The role maintains relationships internal and external stakeholders, drives process improvement initiatives, and champions operational excellence in manufacturing.Responsibilities• Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors, designing engineering solutions and coordinating projects for the manufacturing of parts, component sub-assemblies, and final assemblies.• Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated; access and mitigate risks.• Ensures goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps; submit proposal for realignment of goals and budget if needed.• Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.• Manages relationships with outsourced partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs.• Ensures that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with outsourced resources.• Identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions opportunities, and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy.• Champions engineering and operational excellence in manufacturing processes, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement.• Implements plans with regard to optimizing factory and product line performance, including performance optimization, capacity expansion, new line ramp into full production, etc.• Performs talent management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development.• Ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.Education & Experience Recommended• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.• Typically has 7-10 years of job-related experience or 5-7 years of management experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, or a related field.Preferred Certifications• Six Sigma Certification• American Production And Inventory Control Society (APICS) CertificationKnowledge & Skills• Agile Methodology• Automation• Computer Science• Continuous Improvement Process• Data Analysis• Electrical Engineering• Engineering Management• Lean Manufacturing• Manufacturing Engineering• Manufacturing Processes• Mechanical Engineering• New Product Development• Process Improvement• Project Management• Python (Programming Language)• Software Development• Software Engineering• Supply Chain• Systems Engineering• ToolingCross-Org Skills• Customer Centricity• Prioritization• Resilience• Team Management• Strategic ThinkingImpact & Scope• Impacts function and leads projects requiring understanding of multiple disciplines or areas of HP.Complexity• Uses managerial concepts and company objectives to resolve issues in creative and effective ways.Disclaimer• This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed in this role.
