IT
Rocket Lab’s IT team is responsible for how our global teams access information and run operations across our computer systems, networks, and devices. Our hardworking IT team is a group of flexible problem-solvers working in a fast-paced environment but who also thrive under the challenge of supporting all of our proprietary systems and people, from finance to Space Systems operations.
IT ENGINEER I – SPACE SYSTEMS
Based onsite at Rocket Lab's global headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Space Systems IT Engineer I leverages technical expertise in the area of end user engineering and system administration to strengthen the reliability, efficiency, and performance of Rocket Lab systems. It is critical that this role be a technical partner to implement established standards and procedures which support the business’ IT infrastructure along with ensuring operational stability. This role is responsible for implementing reliable solutions that maintain the integrity of the existing IT infrastructure as well as meet the organizations operational objectives. A Space Systems IT Engineer works effectively in a team to establish synergies with IT peers and collaborates across the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Coordinating and leading in the design, testing, evaluation, implementation, and support for multiple complex platforms of large size and complexity (hardware, operating systems, software, systems, tools, and IT processes).
Consult with IT teams (e.g. Cloud, Integration, Launch, Platform, Contractors) to configure hardware, software, and services for Space Systems users.
Ensure Space Systems platforms/systems conform to established enterprise/industry standards (systems management, security, operating systems, etc.) and reference models.
Design and document enterprise standards and procedures.
Serve as a point of escalation, providing technical support, as needed, to Client Services and Engineering teams.
Other duties as assigned.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree OR equivalent working experience (4+ years of experience)
Experience doing administration of all core Microsoft Technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, Azure Cloud)
Experience with administration of Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL)
Experience with administration of firewalls, switches, and Wi-Fi access points with an understanding of core networking technologies (LAN, WAN, VLAN, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Routing, Firewalls, VPN, Packet Sniffing, etc.)
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
Advanced problem solving and analytical skills – ability to see the big picture, make connections and appropriate decisions.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with an eye for detailed documentation.
Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence)
Endpoint administration using automation tools such as Ansible.
Management GitLab repositories.
Specialist qualification in area of expertise:
Linux, Networking, AWS
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
Must be physically able to commute to buildings
Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
IT Engineer I Pay Range: $33/hr - $43/hr
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Base salary is only one part of Rocket Lab’s compensation package for this role. You may be eligible for company stock, stock options, or cash incentives, and can purchase discounted stock through Rocket Lab’s Employee Stock Purchase Program.
