This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Products team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.As part of a high performing global engineering team, this intern will play a critical role in expanding the Calix Support Cloud solution. Calix Support Cloud empowers customer service organizations with insights and real time data to maximize the support operations efficiency and deliver the best customer experiences.Responsibilities and Duties: Develop services for enabling easy to use solutions for Customer Support organizations within service providers.Work with technical leads to develop solutions to bring features to the market. Work closely with Cloud product owners to understand, analyze product requirements and deliver a complete solution.Participate in technical discussions within the engineering group.  Support test strategy and automation in both end-to-end solution and functional testing as required.Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate college degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.Hands-on software engineering experience.Understanding of designing and developing event-based / pub-sub workflows. Kafka desired.Creative problem-solving skills and ability to abstract and share details to create meaningful articulation.Ability to participate in technical discussions across cross-functional teams.  Knowledgeable in design and implementation of micro-services based, API/Endpoint architectures.Good understanding of implementation and deployment of cloud-based solutions (preferably AWS).Knowledge of transactional databases and good understanding of no-SQL datastores.Expert in Java. Proficiency in other languages like Go, Python, NodeJS/JavaScript a plus.   Organized and goal-focused, ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education (i.e. year in school).There are different ranges applied to specific locations.
