This individual will work in a dynamic team-oriented environment that supports lab operations and technologies helping Illumina deliver its highly complex product pipeline in a reliable and sustainable manner.Responsibilities:Owns a component of a subsystem or multiple components of a large system with oversight.Able to investigate and resolve technical failures seen in large equipment.Contributes ideas for functional development, LEAN improvements and supports efforts driven by others.Influences decisions in own area of responsibility.Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and execute multiple parallel activities like calibrations, preventive maintenance, supplier support, spare parts and project activities with minimal guidance from manager or lead.Provide supporting data on risk and recommendations in area of responsibility and at critical interfaces to other cross functional teams.Able to select appropriate components and vendors in area of responsibility, without oversight.Use optical, mechanical, electrical, and or fluidics tools and knowledge to perform equipment troubleshooting.Generate standard operating procedures/work instructions, troubleshooting guides and checklists.Work in a team environment to improve equipment reliability and uptime.While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs/ladders, kneel, crouch, or wear safety gear. Must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Requirements:Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changes in priority, and redirect efforts as necessary.Applied knowledge of data collection and able to summarize resultsExcellent math and analytical skillsExcellent verbal and written documentation skills in EnglishAbility to use Microsoft Office and WindowsExperience working on laboratory equipment preferredExperience working in a clinically regulated environment is highly desirableExperience with electrical and mechanical schematicsExcellent technical troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitudeFundamental knowledge of optical/mechanical/electrical and or fluidic systemsWork experience in Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical / Medical Devices industries would be an advantageKnowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) would be a plusListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. The estimated base salary range for the Equipment Engineer 2 role based in the United States of America is: $73,400 - $110,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
